HELP / F.A.Q.

General Info

What can I purchase in the Singing Machine Store?
The Singing Machine Store is your ultimate destination for all your karaoke needs. You can purchase thousands of licensed audio (without scrolling lyrics) and video (with scrolling lyrics) karaoke files of hit songs re-recorded in the style of some of the best known artists in the world.

What is the difference between an audio and video file?
Audio files feature the audio recording only, without scrolling lyrics. Video files combine the audio and the video with scrolling lyrics, in synch with the audio recording. When available, lead vocal tracks may also be offered for either audio or video versions.

How do you come up with your Most Popular and Top Songs categories?
We keep track of artist and individual tracks sales and compile a list of Most Popular and Top Songs by artist, song and genre.

I need additional help. How can I contact you?
You can contact us by emailing downloadsupport@singingmachine.com. Please indicate how we can assist you. If possible, include information regarding your system setup (PC, Windows Vista/XP, Internet Explorer, Firefox).

File Formats

In what formats are the Singing Machine Store's files encoded?
All files from this store are encoded as SMC files. SMC file is a proprietary file format developed by The Singing Machine® Company to help you manage your tracks easily from your computer and on your Singing Machine®.

On which platform(s) will SMC files work?
SMC files will only work on a Microsoft Windows compatible platform using The SMC Karaoke Manager, available for free. Using this software, SMC audio files (without scrolling lyrics) can also be converted into MP3 files or onto a CD for use in most karaoke machines. SMC video files (with scrolling lyrics) can be converted into MP4 files or onto a CD+G for use in most karaoke machines.

How many times can I burn an SMC file onto a CD?
As of version 1.3.1 of the SMC Karaoke Manager, there is no limit on the number of times each song can be converted or burned. To verify the version of SMC Karaoke Manager that is installed on your system, click Help > About SMC Karaoke Manager. If the version installed is below 1.3.1, it is recommended to download and install the latest version of SMC Karaoke Manager.

Payment Information

What does the message Country/Credit Card Mismatch mean?
Our audio and video files are licensed on a per country basis. This means the same song may be available for download in one country, and not in another. When you purchase an audio or video file for download, we match the country of your IP address with the country your credit card was issued in. This message indicates one of the files you have added to your cart is not available in one of the countries identified by our query. Most times, the countries are the same, but if you are traveling, you may be unable to download certain songs.

What payment methods do you accept?
The Singing Machine Store accepts the following major credit cards: Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

Online Security

Is your website secure?
We employ the latest SSL encryption to secure your personal data and payment information. Our billing practices are designed to protect your privacy and limit access to your financial information. For example: we do not store credit card information after payment has been authenticated and processed. We will also never share your account details or history with a third party without your explicit permission.

Should I look out for hidden viruses in your files, like in other music web stores?
Unlike file-sharing services where the integrity and quality of the files swapped is not guaranteed and the copyright compliance hazy, the Singing Machine Store produces its own high quality files and guarantees their quality and integrity, as well as the licensing.
