What is the difference between an audio and video file?
Audio files feature the audio track only, without scrolling lyrics. Video files feature both the audio track and a video of scrolling lyrics on a black background. The scrolling lyrics on the video feature colored cues played in time with the music and melody to help you sing along in time.
What do "With lead vocals" and "Without lead vocals" mean?
When available, lead vocal tracks may also be offered for either audio or video versions. Note that lead vocal tracks may not be available to download in all file formats. When this occurs there will only be download links in your Digital Locker for the available file formats of the lead vocal version.
Some karaoke songs may feature background vocal tracks. The background vocal tracks may be heard on both the version with lead vocal as well as the version without lead vocal and cannot be turned off.
How do you come up with your Most Popular and Top Songs categories?
We keep track of artist and individual tracks sales and compile a list of Most Popular and Top Songs by artist, song and genre.

What are the system requirements for the Singing Machine Store?
A recent computer and up-to-date web browser is required to purchase and download songs from the Singing Machine Store. The Adobe Flash Player is required to preview video samples. The Singing Machine Store is not compatible with mobile devices or tablets. Please note that some system security, firewall and anti-virus software or settings, as well as web browser security settings may prevent the Singing Machine Store from functioning correctly.
In what formats are the Singing Machine Store's files available?
Audio downloads are high quality (192 kbps) files available in either the SMC or MP3 file format. When you purchase an audio song (without lyrics) both an SMC audio file and an MP3 audio file will be available in your Digital Locker for you to download.
Video downloads are high quality (640 x 480) files available in SMC, MP4, WMV or MP3+G file formats. When you purchase a video song (with scrolling lyrics), SMC, MP4, WMV and MP3+G (ZIP) files will be included in your purchase. Note that SMC and MP3+G files are not available for all video songs. Refer to the Song Information page to verify which formats will be included with the purchase of specific video songs. You may choose to download any or all of the available files from your Digital Locker.
What is an SMC file?
The SMC file is a proprietary file format developed by The Singing Machine® Company to help you manage your tracks easily from your Windows computer and on your Singing Machine®. SMC files will only work on a Microsoft Windows compatible platform using The SMC Karaoke Manager, available for free.
How do I play SMC audio or video files?
SMC files will only work on a Microsoft Windows compatible platform using the SMC Karaoke Manager, available for free. Using this software, you can playback audio files (without lyrics) or video files with scrolling lyrics on your PC.
How do I play MP3+G files on my Singing Machine 4TV?
The Singing Machine 4TV plays .mp3 and .cdg files from USB flash drives. The .mp3 and .cdg files are delivered for download in a single, compressed MP3+G.zip file. The MP3+G file cannot be played as a .zip file on a USB flash drive. To play karaoke songs using a USB flash drive with the SMC 4TV, the MP3+G .zip file must be unzipped as described below in "How do I play MP3+G files on my Singing Machine 4TV using a USB flash drive?".
How do I burn CDs and CD+Gs from SMC files?
You can use the SMC Karaoke Manager (available for free), to create karaoke CDs (audio only) or CD+Gs (audio and graphics)
SMC audio files (without scrolling lyrics) can be burned onto a CD for use in most karaoke machines. Note that since SMC audio files do not include the lyrics, the lyrics will not be displayed on the karaoke machine’s monitor when playing back audio files burned to a CD.
SMC video files (with scrolling lyrics) can be burned onto a CD for use in most karaoke machines. Burning SMC video files onto a CD will create a CD+G and if supported by the karaoke machine, will display the lyrics on the monitor.
When purchasing blank CDs to burn the karaoke songs onto for use with a karaoke machine, make sure to purchase CD-R or CD-RW type CDs. DVD-Rs are not supported for burning CDs for use in karaoke machines.
How many times can I burn an SMC file onto a CD?
As of version 1.3.1 of the SMC Karaoke Manager, there is no limit on the number of times each song can be converted or burned. To verify the version of SMC Karaoke Manager that is installed on your system, open the SMC Karaoke Manager software, click Help > About SMC Karaoke Manager. If the version installed is below 1.3.1, it is recommended to download and install the latest version of SMC Karaoke Manager.

I have a problem playing MP3+G files on the Singing Machine 4TV, what do I do?
The MP3+G file is a .zip file that contains two files: the music (.mp3) and the lyrics (.cdg). If you are having trouble playing MP3+G files using a USB flash drive you may need to unzip the MP3+G files as described below in "How do I play MP3+G files on my Singing Machine 4TV using a USB flash drive?".
If you have unzipped your files, please note that the USB flash drive must be connected to the SMC 4TV after the machine has been turned on. If the USB flash drive is connected before the machine is turned on, the machine will not read the USB flash drive.

How do I play MP3 audio files?
Audio MP3 files can be played back on computers (PC or Mac) using audio playback software such as QuickTime or iTunes, or using an array of digital media devices including iPod, iPhone or any other digital media device that supports MP3 playback. MP3 audio files contain only the audio track, no lyrics are included.
How do I play MP4 video files?
Video MP4 files can be played back on computers (PC or Mac) using video playback software such as QuickTime or iTunes. You can also playback MP4 files on portable media devices that support this format including iPods, iPhones and Apple TV.
How do I play WMV video files?
Video WMV files can be played back on Windows computers (PC) using Windows Media Player or other media playback devices such as Zune, X-Box 360, PS3.
How do I use MP3+G video files?
Video MP3+G files work on computers with additional karaoke software installed and the SMC 4TV karaoke machine. MP3+G files are packaged in a .zip file containing the music (.mp3) and the lyrics (.cdg). The MP3+G files will work on Windows PC or Mac OS X computers with special karaoke software installed as well as the SMC 4TV karaoke machine:

How do I choose the format that I want?
When adding a karaoke song to your cart, select the version of the song that you want to download, either audio (without lyrics) or video (with scrolling lyrics), or add both versions to your cart if you want both. After purchasing the song, go to your Digital Locker and download the song in any (or all) of the available formats according to your needs:
What is my Digital Locker?
Your Digital Locker is a secure web-based environment where you can download the files you have purchased. Once you have completed your purchase transaction, the files are available in the form of a link you can access at any time in your secure Digital Locker.
How do I download songs?
After purchasing songs, download links for each song purchased will be available in your Digital Locker. For audio songs purchased, 2 links will be available, SMC and MP3. For video songs purchased, 4 links will be available SMC, MP4, WMV and MP3+G. SMC and MP3+G formats are not available for all video songs. Please refer to the Song Information page to verify which file formats are included. You can choose to download any or all of the available formats.
To download files, left click on the download link of the format you’d like to download. Click Save. Navigate to the file folder on your computer where you would like to save the file. When downloading, take note of the location that you are saving the file to on your computer.
Where are my downloaded files saved?

I successfully downloaded video files from your store. Why won't they play on my portable media device?
The most common reason for failure to play is that you have downloaded files in a format that is not compatible with your portable media device. Please check your device manual for compatibility notes and return to your Digital Locker to download the file in a compatible format.

What does the message Country/Credit Card Mismatch mean?
Our audio and video files are licensed on a per country basis. This means the same song may be available for download in one country, and not in another. When you purchase an audio or video file for download, we match the country of your IP address with the country your credit card was issued in. This message indicates one of the files you have added to your cart is not available in one of the countries identified by our query. Most times, the countries are the same, but if you are traveling, you may be unable to download certain songs.

I received a Promo Code, where do I enter it?
After adding the songs that you’d like to download to your Shopping Cart, proceed to CHECK OUT. In the text box on the right hand side of the web page, enter the PROMO CODE exactly as it appears, then click UPDATE. Note that some promotions require you to have at least a certain number of songs in the cart to be valid. You only need to enter Credit Card information if the Total exceeds the value of the PROMO CODE.
I received a Gift Certificate, how do I use it?

Can I purchase audio or video karaoke files without creating an account on the Singing Machine Store?
No. In order to further protect your privacy and avoid fraud, we require that Singing Machine Store customers create accounts through which their identity can be validated and safeguarded.
Does it cost me anything to create an account?
Creating an account on the Singing Machine Store is free. So is browsing our catalog and sampling audio and video files. You only pay for the files you purchase.
What is the minimum age requirement to create an account?
The minimum legal age to create an account in the Singing Machine Store is 13. We use your date of birth to determine if you meet this requirement.
